Debut CD Coming From Emerging Veteran Songwriter

Welcome to the Jay Linden website. Just in time for the release of Jay's very first CD, "Satchel".

"Satchel" contains 10 new songs, all written by Jay, plus a bonus 11th song, a Christmas song offered by Jay as an "Easter egg" on the CD. There are also several smaller pieces played on an assortment of the unusual stringed instruments in Jay's collection of many -- the laud, tiple, and an all-chrome Dixie banjo-uke.

After a half-year delay, "Satchel" is now available, in time for the Labour Day gift season! Produced with Ken Brown, recorded in Guelph, Ontario at Ken's studio. Mixed by Colin Linden.

Stay tuned to this space for information on purchase, launch events, and other news.

So who's Jay Linden anyway? For a new artist, he sure is old. Veterans of the Toronto and Canadian folk scene will recall him from the first half of the 70s. Younger fans will just wonder where the grey beard came from. Jay is a veteran musician, guitarist, singer and songwriter who's travelled a lot of road miles and eaten a lot of road dust and sunsets, many of which find their way into his songs. The songs are elegantly crafted and timeless. They grow on you like a soft frost grows on a field on a winter's morning.

And the website? Expect the bio, info on the CD and all the "usual stuff" -- guestbook, a journal Jay hopes to write in regularly ... links to buy the CD and join the mailing list, of course. Plus a few interesting things -- Jay will be posting some of his southwestern photography (some of which is also going into the CD booklet). Plus some of his favourite things -- other artists, CDs that inspired him, some memorable lyrics from other people's songs, and a list of Frequently Asked Questions. We hope to update the site regularly. Hit the "contact" link on the left and holler at us if we're looking stale!
