TRAVERSE COUNTY
(Oct. 3, 2004)
I'm going down to Traverse County -- in the spring with the melting snow
Fill my pack, fill my tank, hit the road and away I'll go Down the mountain, down the highway, down the road a day or two Down the lane along the river -- and I know what I'm gonna do
There's a girl in Traverse County -- met her there a year ago Walked together by the icy river, held her hand in the falling snow Sparking eyes like a shining fountain, ruby lips as sweet as wine
I'm gonna climb down off this mountain, head on down and make her mine
It don't rain in Traverse County -- skies are nearly always clear Once a month it snows in winter -- get a cloudburst twice a year Sloping hills and the rolling valleys, sky is big and the river wide Air is crisp with the people shouting -- silver rings by the highway side
The chill is off, the snow is gone -- the morning frost has turned to dew I can't sleep and I can't wait -- been so long since I've seen you I'm going down to Traverse County, find that lane in the sky so blue And if she's not there waiting for me -- I don't know just what I'll do
I'm going down to Traverse County
