SHADOWS OF THE MORNING
(Oct 14, 2004)
Flow with the river, sail with the tide And follow your heart wherever you go Speak with conviction, swallow your pride And you won't feel troubled come tomorrow My back was strong and my shirt was clean And I spoke with fire of the dawning As we stood among the trees and slipped to our knees To wait for the shadows of the morning
My thoughts they were racing like wings passing by On a thin black mist in the deep blue sky The chill of the night cast a whisper and sighed To the thin shade of gloom that it could not deny My soul was pure and my spirits high But it came without pause, without warning An unrelenting force wrapped up the night And we hid in the shadows of the morning
Clean flows the river down to the sea As the morning sun feeds the melting snow
At the dawn of the day we had little to say And we no longer knew where it was we had to go We turned to the left, looked to the right It's a trick of the trade, it's a trick of the light And we could not say if it was wrong, if it was right As we fought with the doubts that were forming
And the day moved ahead, left us behind Trapped like the shadows of the morning Trapped like the shadows of the morning
